Part workshop, part behind the scenes, part meditation journey, the Apertures project is a ‘choose-your-own-adventure’ style ephemeral art installation by Scott Baker that will see you journey through the Sydney CBD to various locations, experiencing the city in a new light.
Experience micro-video projection mapping close up and engage with the artist’s intention of creating a shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) experience using video of the forests around Bermagui where he lives projection mapped into small architectural glitches around the CBD.
Ask questions or sit and watch and connect with the tiny magical spaces being created.You will be informed of the first location on the night via text message 1 hour before the rendezvous in the CBD. Wear appropriate walking shoes and bring your traffic skills.
WHO IS THIS SESSION FOR:
This event will give you an insight into the video projection process, the tools and techniques including hardware and software, video content creation, site selection and conceptual approaches for using video projection for installations.
This is a great session for creatives using digital tools or wanting to demystify projection technology. Tap into Scott’s 20 years as a digital media educator to glean insights into the process. It is for seekers of the subtle and sublime.
PARTICIPANT REQUIREMENTS:
- Bring good walking shoes, your mobile for directions and your traffic sense.
- The maximum amount of walking will be 20 minutes in any one direction at any one time.
- Have your mobile ready to receive the first location rendezvous point where you will meet a Brand X staff member for directions to the installation site. The text message will be sent at 7.30pm with rendezvous at 8.30pm.
- To be part of this you will need a mobile phone that can receive text messages.
ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Scott Baker is a multidisciplinary artist based in on the far south coast of New South Wales on Djiringanj Land in Bermagui. He works across audio-visual composition using a variety of electronic devices and video sources as Abre Ojos; creating site-specific video projection mapping installations and shares his skills and knowledge of the creative industries with young people through the Bioluminescence Project.
