API Power UP Inside Industry 2026 - Session 2
Description
Keeping the Lights On While Changing Everything: The Energy Transition in Real Life
What does the energy transition actually look like in practice, and what role will future engineers play in shaping it?
Join the Australian Power Institute for our next Power Up Inside Industry webinar, designed for undergraduate students interested in careers in power and energy.
This one-hour online session will explore how engineers are helping to keep the power system safe, reliable and affordable while supporting major change across the sector. Students will hear directly from industry professionals working across grid strategy, network planning, transmission and distribution, and learn more about the real challenges and opportunities shaping Australia’s energy future.
Our guest speakers will share practical insights into topics including future networks, grid planning, renewables and system integration, reliability, network transformation, and where future engineers may be needed most.
We are excited to be joined by:
Cosette Francis, Distribution Grid Strategy and Planning Manager, Western Power
Lachlan Culshaw, Senior Engineer, Power Transmission and Distribution, Aurecon
Louis Fernandes, Lead Engineer - Network Planning, Endeavour Energy
This session is ideal for Power Up community students, Power Up Scholarship holders and undergraduate students who want to better understand where a career in power and energy could take them.
