Appetite for Change Conference
Event description
Improving eating disorder care for everyone, of every brain and body, everywhere.
The Appetite for Change Conference is the first of its kind: a two-day event exploring eating, feeding, and body, at the intersections of neurodivergence, queerness, transness, chronic illness, disability, and other marginalised identities, bodies, and experiences.
It will be held live online on March 12th & 13th 2026, with session recordings available for 3 months post-conference.
Why this conference?
For too long, mainstream systems and services have shaped how we understand and respond to eating, feeding, and body. Appetite for Change exists to centre and uplift the voices, needs, and experiences of those who have been overlooked, erased, dismissed, or harmed by them, so that together we can create more inclusive and impactful understandings, systems, services, and supports for all.
What to expect?
Over the two days, you’ll hear from advocates, living and lived experience community members, clinicians, and researchers, through talks, panels, and presentations blending lived and professional expertise.
Together, we'll explore the experiences and needs of marginalised folk, unpack harmful assumptions, examine “gold standard” treatments, gain practical strategies and tools, and build pathways and practices for care that is truly intersectional, affirming, and accessible. These critical conversations will challenge mainstream narratives and create opportunities to connect, reflect, and learn together.
Who is this conference for?
Appetite for Change is for a wide audience, and all are welcome. This includes mental health, allied health, and medical professionals; people with lived and living experience, advocates, carers, and allies; researchers, academics, educators, and students; policymakers, service leaders, community workers, and support coordinators; and anyone interested in or committed to reshaping how we think about eating, feeding, and body.
Held virtually and accessible globally, this isn’t your typical eating disorder conference, but there’s room for everyone at the (proverbial) table, especially those who have rarely been offered a seat. We’d love for you to join us.
