Event description

Applied Decision Making is a one day interactive course that will develop participants’ capability in decision thinking and competency in making robust, effective individual and group decisions. Decision makers will be empowered with a simple framework to engage stakeholders, apply rigorous and transparent processes and truly understand the perspectives of those impacted. This non-technical course is designed to provide an introduction to Decision Thinking for individuals who are required to make decisions in often dynamic and complex environments. Human beings make more than 12,775,000 decisions per year in every area of life – the problem is neuroscience suggests that nearly all of these decisions are reactive and unconscious. From an organisational perspective, poor decision making impacts all aspects of a business, for example stakeholders become disenfranchised, time and money is wasted, and change occurs as a threat to be resisted. Implementing Decision Thinking is a simple method of improving results and driving team and organisational performance – by moving from decision making by chance, to decision making by design.

Through this course, participants will:

  • Learn the four Decision Thinking Principles and the elements of effective decision making;

  • Develop an understanding of cognitive bias and how it leads to common mistakes and reactionary decision making;
