April 2025 Lunch and Learn - Unwritten Histories of the Badger State: The Power of Oral History

Join us on April 8th, 2025 for our April Lunch and Learn. This month we will learn about the relationship between oral history and Wisconsin history. Using oral history to study stories, experiences, and events offers opportunities that go beyond traditional written records. This auditory research method can enable the preservation of histories and memories that might otherwise be lost, particularly those of marginalized or underrepresented groups. This program will explore how oral histories have been used to advocate for Wisconsin history and what the future may hold for the methodology’s role in promoting historical awareness and remembrance.

Catherine studied Public History at UW-Whitewater and completed her graduate degree from UW-Milwaukee in 2024. She was introduced to the museum field through historical interpretation at the Wade House Historic Site. Her focus in visitor engagement and public history continued at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and as a Teaching Assistant for the UW-Milwaukee History Department. She has conducted and transcribed oral histories for the Wisconsin Farms Oral History Project, John Michael Kohler Arts Center, and the Gathering Places Project. Catherine currently works as the Museum Administrative Coordinator at Jewish Museum Milwaukee.

About this event -The Waukesha County Historical Society & Museum is excited to bring back the popular Lunch and Learn Program. Each month we will have an interesting and educational presentation for you.

Tickets: 

• $28 - Nonmembers with a Box Lunch of choice
• $25 - Members with a Box Lunch of Choice
• $10 - Program only, no lunch

Rochester Deli's box lunches include a sandwich, chips, and a dessert. All sandwiches are on multi grain bread* with leaf lettuce, tomato, with mayo and brown mustard on the side. Sandwich options include:

• Roast Turkey
• Sliced Tavern Ham
• Angus Roast Beef
• Chicken Breast Salad
• Egg Salad
• Grilled Veggie
• Tuna Salad

A link to submit your box lunch choice will be listed in your confirmation email after purchasing tickets. Please make sure to submit your choices by 4pm the Friday before the event. If you do not submit a lunch choice, the default option of Turkey will be ordered for you. Water will be provided.

How can I submit my box lunch choice? Your purchase confirmation email has a link to submit your lunch choices. Please make sure to do so by 4pm the Friday before the event. If we do not have a lunch choice submission for you, we will order you the default sandwich choice of turkey. If you have any problems, please call 262-521-2859.

What if I need to cancel my order? Rochester Deli needs the lunch order by the Friday before the Lunch & Learn date. While you can cancel after that date, we are only able to refund the program cost ($10) if you cancel after the lunch order has been placed.
