April Bush Ramble in Berrinba Wetlands
Event description
PLEASE JOIN US ON OUR APRIL MONTHLY BUSH RAMBLE
This month we will be exploring the Berrinba Wetlands Park which covers 80 hectares of natural beauty and recreational facilities in the heart of Browns Plains.
Surprisingly, these wetlands are man-made, created by sand and mining operations after World War II and have largely remained untouched since the 1990s.
Today, across this 80 hectares, non-native trees have been cleared, leaving natural bush and regrowth to encourage the return of native wildlife and local flora and fauna. The wetlands' key focus is on rehabilitating, protecting and preserving the environment for future generations.
It is a nature lover's haven in the heart of Logan, where there are 430,000 new native plants, 100 nesting boxes for birds, possums and gliders, and 8 km of walking tracks for everyone to enjoy. To maximise this, no pathway has been placed through the Wallum Froglet's habitat to ensure its future.
Join us for another of our peaceful and relaxing monthly rambles, get close to nature, and learn more about the natural environment at Berrinba.
As well as rambling and bird watching there is an option of a 3 km walk around the lake. It is a bird lover's haven in the heart of Logan.
