April Downtemple & Cacao w/ Sudakra- 'Fertile Soil"

Movement - Expression- Connection- Reverence

This event, created by Chelsea Amber, is a ritual of connection, Cacao, guided movement, and free-form dance medicine in a downtempo-esque container. The pace is slower...like a steady burning flame, inviting us to drop deeper into presence with every delicious movement. Note: The music is not strictly downtempo... it is downtempo-esque. Inspired by a slower pace but does still follow a journey. BPM typically does not go above 90.

I'm excited announce very special collaborations for this event! We have sound healing duo, Emily Lewis and Scott Liess providing live sound for after the dance and our DJ is Sudakra! Sudakra comes from a lineage of deep devotion. He's been producing and playing music for 15 years, and will be joining us as part of his California tour between Nevada City, Davis, and Oakland! Super stoked.

Emily Lewis: A singer/songwriter & producer living in Soquel, California south of the bay area. She writes evocative, melancholic, reflective indie dream folk & downtempo electronica. Emily Lewis’s voice is both smooth and dusty. Her music is dreamy, vocal-centric with rich layered harmonies. Her songs are cathartic expressions and hopefully they touch and impact others in positive healing ways. They are ultimately pointing towards the silent still space that is the foundation of our very existence. It is in the spaces in between the notes, the silence after the words have been sung, that contain the magic. The intention of her music is to let it envelop you and inspire you to dive deeper and explore your own dance between stillness and creativity. Her hope is that her music inspires others to feel deeper, remember your truth and live a more creatively expressed life.

Scott Liess: A passionate and skilled shamanic acoustic sound healer, dedicated to guiding individuals on a transformative journey through the power of sound. With a deep connection to ancient healing traditions and modern therapeutic practices, Scott creates immersive soundscapes that foster profound healing and personal growth. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of shamanic traditions and sound therapy, Scott utilizes a variety of instruments including Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, drums, and flutes.

About the Cacao:
Cacao is a delicious, heart-opening medicine with indigenous roots all over the world. Drinking cacao in ceremony where one is invited to connect with the spirit of cacao and invite it into the heart space can bring profound healing experiences, especially when combined with movement such as dance. Cacao is just one more way to infuse Love into your dance!

The cacao we will drink comes from Alta-Verapaz, Guatemala and was processed in Lago Atítlan, Guatemala by a collective of women indigenous to Lago Atítlan. This ceremonial-grade cacao, 'Ruk'u'xUlew', means 'heart of the earth' in Kaqchikel, one indigenous language of Lago Atítlan.
