Objective
To share pertinent research with the industry, identify priorities for the future, and to align these with potential funding opportunities.
ACWA’s Research, Development, and Extension workshop is a specialised event dedicated solely to the aquaculture industry. This workshop will identify and evaluate both new and existing research and development (R&D) ideas, prioritise projects, and explore potential funding opportunities. This is a technical workshop that is not aimed at the general public or investors.
The agenda for the day will start with an overview of the state government’s aquaculture activities and R&D priorities, followed by presentations from local universities discussing past and current R&D projects. Industry members will also have the opportunity to showcase their R&D developments.
After these presentations, there will be a hands-on, facilitated consultative activity where participants can brainstorm their industry sectors’ R&D needs. This session is designed to help identify sector-specific priorities, as well as cross-sector priorities and potential funding connections.
To conclude the workshop, there will be presentations from the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and the AusIndustry Department of Industry, Science and Resources, addressing funding opportunities and the role of economic development in the industry. There will be plenty of time allocated for Q&A throughout the day.
Finally, attendees are invited to wind down with drinks and canapés at the networking event following the workshop.
