Architecture with Pride | Queerchitecture Tour #1

Join Architecture with Pride to celebrate Pride Month with a Queerchitecture tour of two sites in Sydney’s Surry Hills and Darlinghurst – a residential terrace renovation by CO-AP, and the recently-opened Qtopia Museum.

CO-AP’s Surry Hills Terrace consists of humble yet transformative alterations and additions to a two-storey terrace steeped in local history. The renovation brings more daylight into it’s once dark interiors, improves connection to the precious courtyard and has a bit of fun with colour while it’s at it. CO-AP co-founder Will Fung will be on site with client to share insights into this project’s design process.

Sydney’s first queer museum, Qtopia, opened to the public earlier this year. Making its home in the former Darlinghurst Police Station and the neighbouring substation and toilet block, the museum has transformed the space from a place of mixed history and mistreatment, to one of storytelling and celebration. You’ll hear from Qtopia’s CEO Greg Fisher, and Curatorial Director George Savoulis.
