Are you ok? in the Creative Arts: Checking In, Backstage and Beyond
Event description
Because the show must go on — but so should you.
Life in the creative industries can be exhilarating, and exhausting. Long hours, high pressure, and the constant push for excellence can take a toll on our mental health. On R U OK? Day, we’re bringing together screen, sound and creative professionals for an honest, practical conversation about how to support ourselves and each other.
In this 1-hour online session, psychologist Dr Ash King will unpack the unique pressures of working in creative environments, share strategies for starting meaningful mental health conversations, and explore how to respond when someone says, “No, I’m not OK.”
Participants will walk away with greater confidence to check in with colleagues, tools to manage their own wellbeing, and a reminder that in this industry, connection is just as important as craft.
Dr Ash will be joined in conversation by Jeremy Lloyd, a Queer first generation Filipino Australian Movement Director/Choreographer, Performer, DEI Liaison & Writer; Andy Bull, a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist, producer and illustrator; and Amali Golden, an acclaimed actor and musician who first rose to fame as a finalist on Australian Idol, and who's screed credits include Love and Monsters, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Water: Abyss, and TV series such as Bloom, Bali 2002, Harrow, Wakefield, and Black Snow.
