Easter Ecstatic Dance: Rise with Ishtar

As the seasons shift and the Earth prepares for renewal, we gather in sacred movement to honor Ishtar, the ancient goddess of love, fertility, war, and rebirth. Long before modern Easter, Ishtar’s myth told of descent, transformation, and resurrection—mirroring the natural cycles of the land and the soul.

This time of year marks a seasonal transition in many Indigenous Australian calendars. In Noongar Country, Djeran begins—bringing the first rains, a time of renewal and reflection, the cooling winds of Djeran is a time of fertility, renewal, and deep connection to the land—a perfect moment to move, release, and rise.

Through tribal beats, hypnotic rhythms, and primal movement, we will dance through the elements—shedding the old, embracing the new, and attuning to the Earth’s pulse. Just as Ishtar journeyed through darkness to return empowered, we too will move through the depths of ecstatic expression and emerge reborn.

The Dancing Dhevas community is a group dedicated to dancing with passion and authenticity, there is no talking and yet so much is communicated on dance floor. We started in 2010 and have grown organically into a thriving community of young and old, dancers and non dancers, movers and groovers from all walks of life.

Dance your dance, no one else can do it for you.

No right or wrong or set moves, open up to a world of possibilities beyond your imagination on an open dance floor with great music.

6:30 to 9pm, DOORS SHUT at 7:00 no entry after then.

Please bring a water bottle, put away phones and shoes before entering the dance floor.

This event is alcohol free, drug free and smoke free.

Turn mobile phones off, no photography and no Shazam please - Turn up and dance with us in presence.

No shoes, we dance bare foot to ground and connect with the earth, freeing your feet will free the body and mind.

No talking on the dance floor, the space becomes safe to express and feel into your dance when the mind pauses the need to communicate through words. Keep the space safe for each other.

NEW TO DANCING DHEVAS...

The ecstatic dance is a process of delving into your own individual, original dance, it is so unique to you and how you move that it can not be reproduced by anyone else. This gives us the freedom from constraints and judgements so we can explode our potential to move until it unleashes the dancer within. The room takes on a different energy as everyone drops into their dance and natural ecstasy is reached.

We have been teaching Conscious dance in WA for 14 years, trained in various modalities and taught numerous classes, workshops and retreats. The essence never changes, the purity and simplicity humbles us each time we step onto the dance floor and we are ever grateful to the community around us and the earth that holds us.
