Thanksgiving is about more than what’s on the menu. It’s a holiday shaped by history, traditions, family, food, community, and the stories we tell about what it means to gather together.

Join us for Around the Thanksgiving Table, an afternoon of Thanksgiving history, creativity, and real talk.

We’ll take a look at the history behind Thanksgiving, including how the holiday developed, the familiar story many of us learned growing up, and the more complicated history and perspectives that are often left out of that story.

Then we’ll bring the conversation to the table. We’ll explore Thanksgiving traditions, tablescapes and decor, hosting ideas, and creative ways to make a gathering feel welcoming and memorable.

We’ll also talk about the very real human side of the holiday: family dynamics, changing traditions, setting boundaries, navigating difficult conversations, chosen family, creating new traditions, and making celebrations more inclusive and meaningful.

Whether you’re hosting a full house, bringing a dish somewhere else, celebrating with chosen family, rethinking what Thanksgiving means to you, or just looking for some holiday inspiration, you’re welcome at the table.

Come for the history and decor. Stay for the conversation. Leave with new ideas for what it can mean to gather around the Thanksgiving table.

• Registration: Some events require advance registration or tickets through Humanitix or another registration platform. Please check the individual event listing for registration requirements, pricing, age restrictions, and other event-specific details.

• Third-Party Platforms: We may use third-party services such as Humanitix, Google, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms to host, promote, communicate about, or manage events. These services operate under their own terms, policies, and practices, which Kaleidoscope Penguin Collective does not control.

• Photos & Recording: We love capturing the community in action. Unless otherwise stated, photography, video, or audio recording may occur at KPC events and may be used by Kaleidoscope Penguin Collective for promotional, educational, archival, or other business purposes. If you would prefer not to be photographed or recorded, please let us know when you arrive and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request.

• Respect the Huddle: KPC is intended to be a welcoming and inclusive community space. Attendees are expected to treat other guests, presenters, performers, staff, volunteers, partners, and neighbors with respect. Harassment, discrimination, threats, violence, or behavior that materially disrupts an event or creates an unsafe environment may result in removal from the event or space.

• Accessibility & Accommodations: We want KPC events to be as accessible and welcoming as reasonably possible. If you need an accommodation to participate in an event, please contact us in advance when possible so we can work with you regarding your needs.

• Service Animals: We love animals, but only service animals as permitted by applicable law are allowed inside the space. Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted unless specifically allowed for a particular event.

• Community Conversations: KPC events are community spaces, not confidential environments. Please use good judgment when sharing personal, proprietary, sensitive, or confidential information. We cannot guarantee that information shared with other attendees will remain private.

• Educational Events: Workshops, presentations, discussions, and other educational programming are provided for general educational and informational purposes unless specifically stated otherwise. Participation does not create an attorney-client, accountant-client, therapist-client, consultant-client, or other professional relationship with KPC, a presenter, or an event partner.

• Presenter & Partner Views: KPC hosts a wonderfully eclectic collection of people, organizations, ideas, and events. Views expressed by presenters, performers, partners, renters, or attendees are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Kaleidoscope Penguin Collective.

• Food & Drink: Some events may include or permit food and beverages. Attendees are responsible for determining whether food or beverages are appropriate for their own dietary needs, allergies, or restrictions. When alcohol is served, attendees must comply with applicable age requirements and event rules.

• Kids & Young Penguins: Unless an event is specifically designated for children or provides otherwise, parents and guardians are responsible for supervising minors attending with them. Individual events may have their own age requirements.

• Participate at Your Comfort Level: Some events may involve movement, crafting, games, food, demonstrations, or other participatory activities. Participation is voluntary, and attendees should participate only to the extent they feel comfortable and can safely do so.

• Event Changes: Sometimes plans change. KPC may modify event times, programming, presenters, capacity, or other details when reasonably necessary. If an event is canceled or materially changed, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered attendees.

• The Creative Stuff: Event materials, presentations, artwork, recordings, handouts, and other creative content may be protected by copyright or other intellectual property rights belonging to KPC, presenters, artists, partners, or other creators. Unless permission is expressly provided, please do not reproduce, distribute, sell, publish, record, or commercially use someone else's work.

• Personal Belongings: Please keep track of your stuff. To the extent permitted by law, KPC is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal property.

• Event-Specific Rules: Different events sometimes need different rules. Additional terms, waivers, participation requirements, refund policies, or other conditions may apply to a particular event and will be identified when applicable.

• Follow the House Rules: Attendees must follow applicable laws, posted rules, event-specific instructions, and KPC policies, including any applicable Community Guidelines, Terms of Use, Privacy & Cookies Policy, and Accessibility information.
