Workshop 1: Upcycle your clothes - Embellishing and printing

Theme: Wear The Billabong

Workshop Overview
Participants will transform a piece of clothing into a unique wearable artwork using botanical printing, painting, stamp-making, and stencil techniques. The workshop introduces sustainable fashion practices while encouraging participants to extend the life of existing garments through creativity. By incorporating elements from the Billabong, residents are encouraged to relate their everyday garments to nature and our impact on the environment through clothing.

To bring with you:

An item of clothing to paint (or plain tote bags provided)

Materials provided:
- Fabric paints
- Textile markers
- Botanical stamps and leaves made by participants
- Stencils – pre-made with slogans related to Nature Festival and the Billabong
- Fabric brushes and transfer paper
- Sewing and embroidery threads
- Fabric and textile surfaces to paint/create on
- Hand sewing needles
- Sewing hoops

Workshop 2: Collage with Nature

Saturday, 10 Oct 2026 (11:00am to 2:00pm)

Theme: Reimagining the Billabong

Workshop Overview
Using recycled printed materials alongside natural textures, participants will create large-scale collages inspired by local landscapes, wildlife and ecosystems. I will introduce composition & layering techniques.

- Recycled magazines and books
- Canvases
- Acrylic paint
- Paint brushes
- Coloured papers
- Poster-sized paper
- Scissors and craft knives
- Glue sticks and PVA
- Markers and paint pens
