Art exhibition opening night - The Colour and the Shape of Dangeau, Part Deux
Event description
Newcastle-based artist Justin Lees returns to Melbourne with a new collection of abstract paintings shaped by memory, emotion, and place.
Created during a residency in the French countryside, these works are quiet and powerful — visual reflections on presence, solitude, and the rhythm of the land. Lees distills fleeting moments into layered, intuitive forms that invite the viewer to slow down and reflect.
Rather than depicting specific scenes, these paintings function as emotional maps, evoking what it feels like to remember, to notice, and to long for something just out of reach.
Come along to the opening night or visit anytime during the exhibition run. All works available for sale.
A thoughtful, atmospheric show by one of Newcastle’s most expressive contemporary painters.
