Description

This workshop is for transgender, gender diverse, and non-binary young people ages 12-17.

Art Express facilitator Tiger Salmon (they/them) is running two workshops for teens during the school holidays at Affirmation Station.

This is an art-making circle for trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse youth to create, chat, and support one another side-by-side.

Gather around the art table to paint, draw, sculpt, and connect in a space built entirely on safety, kindness, and trust. Led by our art therapist Tiger Salmon (they/them), each session offers a gentle warm-up, reflective prompts, and opportunity to make new friends. Whether you want to talk about gender, create in quiet contemplation, or just share a laugh, you are welcome to show up exactly as you are.

Feel free to sign up for one or both workshops.

What happens at Art Express?

  • Each session, a group of trans and non-binary young people gather around the art table. Tiger opens with a warm-up activity, followed by a reflective prompt like “What fills your cup?” or “What does support feel like for you?”

  • We make art side by side, using creativity to explore feelings, share stories, and connect. It’s a space where everyone is welcome to show up just as they are - tired, curious, joyful, uncertain.

  • Art Express offers a pause from the pressures of daily life. Sometimes we talk about gender and what it means to be trans, but just as often we simply show up, create, and support one another. Our shared art-making becomes a space for affirmation, connection, and quiet transformation

**If you are ages 12-15, we will need consent from a parent/guardian.

When you register, you will need to provide an email address for your parent/guardian. We will then email the consent form to them, and it must be returned to us before the workshop. The consent form will say that you are attending a Transgender Victoria program. This is a one-time consent form that will cover you for all future TGV workshops and events.

Participants who are ages 16-17 do not need consent to attend.

Feel free to email programs@tgv.org.au if you have any questions.
