Event description

The Studio Adamstown is on a mission to support our lovely friend Laila Ezzat Al Shana and her family get to safety and also to source much needed maternity supplies for upcoming her birth. AND YOU CAN HELP!!!

Meet The Family:

Laila Ezzat Al Shana is a 21 year old wife, mother and a future English teacher from Gaza. Laila is currently 8 months pregnant, and has a beautiful two year old son named Ismail. Her husband is Mohammed, he has severe injuries to his legs including an ankle amputation, yet he works tirelessly to support his family. This family needs our URGENT support!

Laila’s family needs money for water, food, and medical care! And they need to get to safety as quickly as possible.

Message from Laila:
"We are a family of three who loves life and strives to live better days. My husband was injured in the 2014 war, with an amputation in his right ankle and torn and slack tendons in his left foot, causing him to walk with crutches. He needs surgery on both feet to avoid using crutches. However, ankle transplantation surgery is very expensive, and we cannot afford it in Gaza due to inadequate resources and facilities. I hope to see my husband walking freely without crutches. My young son, Ismail, is two years old, and I wish for him to live the most beautiful days. Unfortunately, he was born into a world of destruction and chaos. I am also pregnant now, awaiting my new baby. I hope they come into a bright and flourishing life filled with hope and security. I am Laila Ezzat Al Shana, from Gaza, a dedicated and hardworking wife. I study English language education and have obtained several certificates from various training courses. I aspire to travel to continue my education and build a beautiful and bright future for my family. Our house has been severely damaged and is uninhabitable, and we have no place to live. I hope that anyone who can help us will assist us in saving our lives and living a bright future and flourishing life."

Art Therapy:
Despite all her own needs Laila is thinking of others. Laila believes in children's right to play and the healing power of art. She understands the importance of play, art and joy during times of trauma. With limited resources she was able to access a beautiful art therapy session with Children from her community. They did art, listened to music, did singing and dancing to help them take their minds off where they are right now living in a conflict zone. We Stand with Laila and we also wish to use ART to combat conflict, violence and hate.

With the ongoing invasion showing no signs of stopping and Laila's baby being due very very soon, The Studio Adamstown and local artists are using ART to do their bit to help Laila and her family get to safety — we have collated HEAPS of ART prizes worth more than $800 to be won by HEAPS of winners! Now it's your turn to do yours and buy your tickets.

The way it works? When you buy a ticket you will  be buying a beautiful digital artwork by Estelle Leishman. This artwork of a Moon Moth was specifically designed by Estelle using the colours of the Palestinian flag and is a fun print and build at home art activity.

With this purchase you will also go into the draw to win win win loads of art prizes (see full list below).

Winner #1 will be contacted to select their prize first, then winner #2 will choose theirs second, and so on until all prizes have been awarded. Funds raised from raffle ticket sales will initially go towards food, water, basic and maternity essentials the family needs URGENTLY.
