Event description

Tammy and friends

Studio practice ebbs and flows, integrating and negotiating art and life, current practice and Tammy installed at Sawtooth ARI 25.07.25 - 30.08.2025

Dr. Sally Rees is an artist whose practice often signals to ‘other’ realms, using a diverse range of old and new media, high and low tech and usually combining the two. Often employing found materials, images and concepts lifted from popular culture and her direct environment, she creates artworks that aspire to access a universal pre-cognitive knowledge in herself and her audience and to honour the legacy of a less rational human existence. Working largely from Lutruwita / Tasmania since the 1990s, Rees was one of the three Australian artists awarded Suspended Moment: The Katthy Cavaliere Fellowship, a prestigious and generous opportunity which culminated in her solo exhibition, CRONE, staged at Museum of New and Old Art (MONA) Tasmania in 2021. The acclaimed exhibition comprised screen elements in an orchestrated sound field, a complex installation of multi-loop HD videos.   Her 2024 assemblage Tammy is showing at Sawtooth ARI from 25.07.25 - 30.08.25.

This forum will be presented live at the Dechaineux LT on the Hunter Street Campus and streamed to the Inveresk Campus, Rivers Edge room 403a.  If you are unable to attend in person at either campus please join us via Zoom, Meeting ID: 862 3234 0179
