Art History Lecture Series – Four Great Paintings in Four Weeks

About: This lecture series offers an in-depth look at four significant paintings, exploring their art historical, philosophical, and cultural context.
We will examine the fascinating backstories of these works, the lives of the artists, and the distinctive styles they employed. The series will also delve into the historical periods in which the paintings were created, shedding light on the history, science, and philosophical ideas that influenced these shifts in artistic style and taste.
Additionally, we’ll explore the provenance of the paintings—their journey through various owners and institutions—from their creation to where they are today.
