Enterprising Aardvark - Art Therapy 'Taster' and Networking Opportunity
Description
Do you have people you're working with, who are dealing with the impacts of trauma? How often do we get to try out a therapy before referring someone we're working with? The benefit of art therapy to assist clients with the unspoken, is well established!
A great opportunity to learn and network!
Local Art Therapy practitioners, Lorelle and Yvie, are volunteering their time to share some theory and give you a taster of their techniques, with the aim of offering client sessions in the future. A great opportunity to learn about what's available and possible to assist trauma survivors, and to network with others in the same field.
Come and join us for a practical trial of art therapy to help the body "speak" to past harms.
Let the learning and networking begin!

Lorelle
Interactive Drawing Therapy (IDT) is a modality developed by Russell Withers of New Zealand and has been operating since1992.
It uses a blank page, images, words and feelings to access our unconscious. Essentially you are creating a picture by drawing and writing to aspects of your life.
My name is Lorelle Van Pelt and I lived in SA for many years before choosing to live in Launceston for the last 15 years.
I am a teacher and a counsellor and have incorporated IDT into my work with children. I have also run small group sessions with adults in SA.What I love about IDT is that it emphasises the uniqueness of the human journey and celebrates our ability to chart that path. I also use the crayons and page myself when I’m seeking guidance.
Yvie
A little about me...
I am a born and bred Tasmanian with a background in creative arts and restoration. During this time I explored art therapy which led to a change in focus and a career in social work. I am currently working with families, facilitating groups for parents and providing individual support.
I have recently revisited art therapy and I am drawn to Guided Drawing as it combines the benefits of creativity and movement, providing therapeutic support to release emotions and tensions held within the body.
Guided Drawing uses rhythmic bilateral repetition to explore emotions and felt sensations in the body. These may be experienced as flowing and soothing or as tension and blocked inner movements. The focus is not on the story of what led to this, but on the implicit responses needed in the moment.
