Come along to the South Australian Museum this Nature Festival as science and art combine for this exclusive after hours event. Your expert presenters for the evening Ellen Schlobohm (Guildhouse Artist) and Professor Mike Lee (South Australian Museum Researcher) will take you from the beginnings of scientific photography to its pinnacle, and guide you through creating your own take home, cameraless photograph.
Artist Ellen Schlobohm will provide an inspiring, hands-on workshop where creativity and history come together. Guided by Ellen, you will learn the historical photographic method of cyanotypes and create an artwork inspired by the world around us. Merging science and art, this cameraless historical technique creates ethereal images with captivating blue hues dating back to its use in very early scientific photography.
Ellen will be joined by Evolutionary Biologist Professor Mike Lee, who will take you on an exclusive after-hours tour of this year’s Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition. Be inspired by the breathtaking natural heritage of the ANZANG region (Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and New Guinea) and gain a unique insight into the changing nature of our environment and human impact through the camera lens.
Come with curiosity, leave with a new perspective of our natural world and your own handmade treasure. Everyone (18+) is welcome – this workshop is suited for beginners or participants with no prior art experience.
