Event description

Our Spring Artist Showcase features our house band led by Sonofmel as we launch our second FREE show of local and regional performers.  This is the second of 4 planned Artist Showcases in collaboration with WOJB community radio..

This is a FREE concert for all. Please come give these artists a warm, Northwoods reception. You won't be disappointed!

Planned artists for this event include:

Sonofmel: Our Showcase emcee. After 20 years of wandering, from Baku to Berkeley, Anchorage to Ankara, Sonofmel brings the foreign home to the familiar, piling prodigal wanderings and fistfuls of chords into spoken word, stories, and song. Sonofmel is also a volunteer board member of The Park Theater.

"Is it music or poetry? Talking blues? Whatever it is, it may be the most interesting folk from Minnesota since Dylan." --Keweenaw Music

Rap J:  Born and raised in Milwaukee, he started freestyling at age 6 and discovered his passion for hip hop. Born with cerebral palsy, Rap J uses music to express himself and showcase that the condition does not define him. His musical influences include Michael Jackson, Biggie, and Tyler, The Creator. Since the release of Rap J 's latest album "Unstoppable", the rapper has been featured on CBS 58, Fox 6, TMJ4, Miwaukee Journal Sentinel, and Spectrum News. Rap J's biggest goal is to give hope through music and prove that any dream is attainable with the right mindset!

Shane Nelson:  A singer-songwriter born and raised in Superior, Shane follows his musical instincts, channeling his life experiences, emotions, and worldly inspirations into song. After the passing of his longtime bandmate and friend, Zack Ross, Shane embarked on a journey of self-discovery. This is a new chapter for Shane. He has connected and found musical refuge in the talented musicians from Duluth, inspiring second album, "The Music Saved My Life", Shane’s songs reflect on the transformative power of music.

Jerry Kirk: An Native American artist and poet from the Lac Courte Orielles Reservation, Kirk has created works that were unique and memorable, his work leaving a strong impression on you. He’s displayed regionally, including having a permanent piece on display at The LCO University Library. More recently he published his debut poetry book title ‘Native Tongue’ which is available on Amazon.
