Description

Our HOLIDAY Artist Showcase promises to be EXTRA SPECIAL. As always our showcase features our house band, A WALK IN THE PARK, led by Sonofmel. This is a FREE concert for our Northwoods community and will be ONE FOR THE BOOKS we promise. Please come give these artists a warm, Northwoods reception. You won't be disappointed!

Planned artists for this event:

Sonofmel: John Adler, our Showcase emcee. After 20 years of wandering, from Baku to Berkeley, Anchorage to Ankara, Sonofmel brings the foreign home to the familiar, piling prodigal wanderings and fistfuls of chords into spoken word, stories, and song. Sonofmel is also a volunteer board member of The Park Theater.

"Is it music or poetry? Talking blues? Whatever it is, it may be the most interesting folk from Minnesota since Dylan." --Keweenaw Music

Marlee Paine: Marlee Paine is a 13-year-old emerging country singer-songwriter from Stone Lake, Wisconsin, whose talent, authenticity, and work ethic are quickly distinguishing her in the Midwest music scene. She has earned recognition through regional talent competitions (winning Big Top Chautauqua’s Junior Idol) and secured opening slots for nationally recognized artists, including Ricky Skaggs, Chris Kroeze, and Molly Otis. Her performance experience continues to expand with appearances at some of the Northwoods’ most notable festivals and events

Paul Mitchell: Paul has been writing since his first play, “Batboy,” in which he starred as a spry young orphan eager to turn the Dynamic Duo into a threesome. (Quite an image, isn’t it?) And his favorite role in college was that of Mort the Elf in a children’s breakfast theater production of “Peppermint Bear in ‘Who Needs Sneeds?’” Obviously, he preferred roles that gave him a socially acceptable reason to wear tights. He lives near Hayward with his two adorable rescue beagles, Liza and Lorna.

Ave Generosa: Ave Generosa is a non-profit choral collaborative which brings together exceptional vocalists from communities all over the Northwoods to rehearse and perform master-level a cappella choral repertoire. The group was founded in 2019 with a vision to bring music outreach and education to rural areas, especially northern Wisconsin. Members come from a variety of northwest Wisconsin communities, including Hayward, Rice Lake, Stone Lake, Minong, Spider Lake, Shell Lake, Spooner, and Withee. While some are music educators, members represent a variety of professions, including a registered nurse, baker, sales manager, special education teacher, and retired psychotherapist.

Northwoods Strings Faculty & Students: NorthWoods Strings is a non-profit organization dedicated to Building a Musical Community by providing individual string instrument lessons, ensembles, and performance opportunities on the violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, banjo, ukulele and mandolin to children and adults in rural Northwestern Wisconsin.

NorthWoods Strings (NWS) has been providing educational music opportunities in the greater Hayward area since 2004. In addition to private lessons, NWS offers recitals,  old time jam sessions, ensembles, community service concerts at assisted living facilities and more for string players enrolled in the program.

Please show up on time! We can not guarantee your seat after the show has started. Handicapped Accessible seating is available, please contact us for more information or other accessibility needs.
