Textile Designs by Zartisha DavisÂ
Zartisha Davis, a Kabi Kabi (Gubbi Gubbi) Traditional Owner and visual artist has spent her R|Artist Residency: Sub Tropic exploring textile applications of her paintings. This new direction has sparked exciting collaborations with Sunshine Coast Lightning, Queensland Health, Ultraman Marathon and Matai Sports.Â
Culminating her six-month residency, you are invited to a showing of some stunning new textile designs. Created from Country with the intent of becoming wearable pieces that are taken back out onto Country, each design holds stories of Zartisha's family, who are Saltwater people, and draws inspiration from culturally significant shell middens found along the local coastline. This experimentation with a fabric range is part of her dedication to celebrating and making First Nations art and storytelling accessible to all.
Be the first to see Zartisha's intricate textile designs up close, celebrate her residency journey, and connect with the creative community.Â
