Artist Talk & Morning Tea with Sandi Hook
Event description
Join us at The Condensery for an artist talk and morning tea with Sandi Hook!
Currently exhibiting in The Condensery’s inaugural Harvest Biennial Volatile Terrain, Sandi Hook in her new work draws from Mary McConnel’s 1905 diary, a key document recording the colonisation of Somerset, to present a series of artistic vignettes that reflect McConnel’s experiences.
In the form of a visual diary, Hook draws on delicate embroideries and images opposing strong layered stratums of environmentally harsh terrain.
Come along to this artist talk to learn more about Sandi Hook’s new work. Together we will discuss the perspectives and impact of colonial pastoralists, as well consider the hardships, prejudices, and challenges faced in the brutal environment of the late 19th century.
Registrations are essential for catering purposes.
