Artist Talk with Christina A. West
Event description
Artist Talk with Christina A. West
Friday, November 22, 2024 • 12 –1 PM (PDT) • Online
Join us for a virtual talk with Christina A. West, the talented artist behind Strut, currently on view in the Igal & Diane Silber Vault Gallery. Strut complicates tropes of masculinity common to representations of the male body. Referencing the stumps and struts common to classical marble sculpture, West’s ceramic sculptures in Strut function as plinths and supports for models to interact with. These ceramic supports are modeled and glazed to suggest the visceral, while also encouraging awkward, inventive positioning of the body.
There will be an opportunity for Q & A following the presentation.
