    Event description

Let's Make an Autistic Fashion Game celebrating divergency, diversity and authentic representations of people on the spectrum because let's face it, we often have our own quirky sense of style that ROCKS RAINBOW POLKA DOTTED LONG SOCKS!! So whether your thing is costumes or goth, punk or pixie, medieval or futuristic; we'd love you to be a part of this project! Remember those paper dolls from the years gone by that we used to dress up in different outfits? (Or perhaps I'm getting old and your parents did...) Together, we will use digital art skills (no experience necessary) to create a digital version of a fashion or character design game just like that! You can check out the website, https://meiker.io/ for some examples of the type of game we will create..

You will need a digital art program that can handle layers; Sketchbook (FREE), Procreate, GIMP (FREE) and Adobe are probably the best programs to use depending on your device's operating system. All ages and abilities welcome, help from an informal support or support worker also welcome :)

I will send out a file prior to the event with some basic layer outlines (body, tshirts, pants etc), before/during/after the workshop you can colour these in or re-design them however you like and even create your own unique layers for different parts of the outfit and perhaps some special interest accessories and assistive technologies. The basic layers are just there for people who need the extra help so feel free to get creative!

All files will need to be sent back to me by Wednesday the 28th of September and I will compile them into a fashion game. If you choose, you will have over a week to work on your outfits so plenty of time and you can design a single piece of clothing or a whole outfit - as you wish. The game will be showcased on Melbourne Fringe Festival's website and you will be able to share it with your families, friends and peers for widespread enjoyment and creative outfitting. You can even be credited in the game :)

This workshop might fit into your NDIS goals for social and community participation or skill development. This project is made possible by a Ralph Maclean microgrant from Melbourne Fringe Festival and a quick response grant from Regional Arts Victoria.
