Travel instructions
Bus: The following Lothian Buses stop outside the Omni Centre (Stop JA and JB); 1, 4, 5, 7, 8, 14, 16, 19, 25, 34, 45 and 49. Also in the other direction outside St James Quarter (Stop JC), the following Lothian Buses stop; 1, 4, 5, 19, 34, 43 and 45. Both bus stops are a 5 minute walk from The Melting Pot Train: The Melting Pot is directly outside Edinburgh's Waverley Station, when you arrive at the train station just follow signs for Calton Road exit and we will be the first building you see as you exit. There's a handy video here which gives you a visual guide https://youtu.be/BnutnQKCR1M Tram: If arriving by Edinburgh Tram, you will need to get off at the Picardy Place stop. Once off the tram, head towards John Lewis and carry on to the pedestrian crossing at the crossroads. You will see a large arched bridge (Regent Bridge), wald under this bridge and The Melting Pot is the large building on the left hand side. Bike: The Melting Pot has limited number of locked, internal bike storage which you can obtain a key from one of our hosts. Alternatively, there are bike racks in the car park adjacent to the building. Car: Unfortunately we do not provide onsite car parking. Entry instructions
When you arrive at the building just walk through the big red doors, press the button on the intercom. and a host will let you in. The host will be sat at the reception just as you come in who will help you get settled in.
After entry instructions
The event will be taking place in The Commons, which is the large space you arrive at when you walk through the doors. There will also be a tour throughout the rest of the building which our hosts will lead the way.
Hazards
There are 2 steps leading to the main door which have clear, white stair nosing. For anyone unable to use the steps, we ask that you let us know in advance and we can provide alternative access via our kitchen fire escape which is also wheelchair accessible. The Commons and the kitchen are all on the same level, with doors wide enough for wheelchair users. There is an accessible toilet fitted with a RADAR LOCK on the ground floor. A key will be provided to anyone that requires exclusive use of the accessible toilet. There is also a portable wheelchair ramp which we can place over the 3 steps leading to the toilet. There is lift access to our 1st floor, if anyone requires this please let a host know who will take them round to the lift entrance. The lower ground floor can only be accessed via stairwell. The main stairwell is well lit with visible stair nosing If there's is anyone attending with neurodiverse needs, The Melting Pot can provide a quiet room and sensory baskets at any time throughout the event, the room can be allocated and reserved when they arrive so that there's no need to request one throughout the event.
Toilet location
There are 2 toilets, including an accessible one, to the right as you enter The Commons. There are also 3 toilets on our 1st floor and 2 on the lower ground floor which can be accessed via stairwell.
Accessible parking
Unfortunately we don't provide onsite parking. However, there are double yellow lines at the front of the building which allows blue badge holders to park for up to 3 hours.
