ARYAN SHEHRAN SEXTET

The Aryan Shehran Sextet is a Melbourne-based jazz group made up of first to third

year music students with the exception of Aryan himself, who isn't a formal music

student. The sextet performs a mix of jazz standards, original music and modern

compositions, bringing together different influences and approaches to improvisation.

The group focuses on creating an engaging live sound while exploring both the tradition

and contemporary side of jazz.

Aryan Shehran is a Melbourne-based jazz trombonist, filmmaker, and student active in

Melbourne’s jazz scene. Largely self-taught in the space of jazz, Aryan’s playing is

mainly influenced by greats such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and

Elliot Mason, with an emphasis on intense melodic phrasing, expression and

improvisation.

Aryan has performed with prominent ensembles including the Melbourne Youth Jazz

Orchestra and the Jazzlab Orchestra, and has appeared at leading venues such as

Hamer Hall, Federation Square, Melbourne Recital Centre, and the Jazzlab. He has

also performed at the Melbourne International Jazz Festival (ABC Recorded).

Following his Melbourne Youth Jazz Orchestra audition, trombonist Jordan Murray rated

his improvisation 10/10 within the scope of a student, commenting, “I love your style.”

Alongside music, Aryan has studied biomedicine and is currently pursuing nursing,

while continuing his work as an independent filmmaker. He is steadily establishing his

own voice as an emerging musician within Melbourne’s jazz scene.

Formed through high school, the Eshan Sharma Trio brings together a shared love of blues, R&B

and blues rock. Blending soulful grooves, gritty guitar-driven sounds and energetic

performances, the trio delivers a mix of classic influences and their own unique style. Joining

them for a special guest appearance is Remy Grutzner on saxophone and Ryan Sherwood on

vocals, adding another layer of soul and energy to the mix. Expect a night of feel-good rhythms,

bluesy riffs and plenty of soul.
