As If I'm Really There - Emilie Collyer
Event description
Join us to celebrate the launch of local acclaimed poet Emilie Collyer's second collection.
As If I’m Really There, published by Vagabond Press, builds thematically and artistically on Emilie Collyer’s award-winning debut collection Do You Have Anything Less Domestic?
This second collection digs deeply into Collyer’s avid feminine and feminist interest in the place of the body: what it feels like to have one, how bodies are gendered, assessed, analysed and valued, how the body of an artist and a body of creative work is forged.
Emilie will be joined by another local legend Thuy On. Both writers bring sharp insight, lyrical intensity and deeply personal perspectives to their work, exploring the intersections of art, identity and the everyday. This launch is a chance to hear them read, reflect and converse about poetry’s power to move, provoke and connect.
This event will include a short performance by Rawcus Ensemble. The evening will also be Auslan interpreted.
All ticket proceeds will be donated to the Murrup Foundation.
