B'nai B'rith, in partnership with the Lamm Library, presents topical fortnightly guest speakers, hosted by Ron James, who has many years of experience in running current affairs discussions.

Sessions cost $10 each or $30 for the series and include a delicious morning tea.

October 1 - Julie Szego :

‘How October 7 has changed us’.

Julie Szego is an Australian journalist and author known for her work where she covers social, political and legal issues. She wrote 'The Tainted Trial of Farah Jama' exploring a wrongful conviction case. Szego's commentary often focuses on justice and human rights, making her a respected voice in Australian media.

October 15 - Tim Wilson:

"Australia's future is on the line"

Tim Wilson is a politician and former member of Parliament, representing the Division of Goldstein from 2016 to 2022. Before entering politics, Wilson was a public policy advocate and served as Australia's Human Rights Commissioner from 2014 to 2026.

October 29 - Adam Butt:

'The rise of Antisemitism around the world’.

Adam Butt is an Australian barrister specializing in human rights and commercial litigation. He gained attention for his role in the Brighton Secondary College antisemitism case and is known for his work in racial discrimination. Butt has been recognised for his pro bono efforts and received the 2024 B'nai B'rith Human Rights Award.

November 12 - Zach Gomo:

'Despite decades of rapid population growth and fears of unsustainable numbers, most analysts now agree that we are on the cusp of a similarly steep population decline. Whilst celebrated by some, the consequences of a rapidly ageing and shrinking humanity are likely to include stark and unexpected challenges. What will this mean for the world in general, and Israel in particular? '

Zach Gomo is a notable speaker and educator, recognised for his contributions to Jewish learning and historical awareness.

November 26 - Arthur Bolkas:

Prison: a glimpse into the netherworld through the eyes of one who has been there.

Arthur Bolkas is a criminologist, speaker and former prisoner who now works to help at-risk youth and prisoners reintegrate into society. After overcoming drug addiction and serving time for a rmed robbery, he now shares his story of redemption, working as a mentor ad facilitating programs for those in need. He is also a writer and speaker focused on rehabilitation and transformation.
