Ash Morse - Piano Stories | Avoca Beach Theatre
Event description
Join us for an intimate evening of original music and storytelling by Ash Morse, all performed live by Avoca Beach Theatre's beautiful grand Piano!
Ash Morse's music ranges from delicate and intricate piano vocal to grand and orchestral. Each song tells aspects of his life and internal world and is related through both musical and lyrical theme. Whether you love to be lost in the music or lost in the narrative, there is a rich sonic and lyrical tapestry to be immersed in with as many layers deep as you are willing to be transported. Though you may have heard the whimsical moment-capturing and powerful storytelling of Tim Freedman and the soaring, ethereal, almost tortured beauty of Jeff Buckley, you won't be completely prepared for the experience of being in a room as Ash begins to perform.
Sit back, relax, and let Ash's original compositions transport you to another world. This in person event promises to be a moment filled with beautiful melodies and captivating tales. Don't miss out on this unique experience!
About Ash Morse
Sydney
artist, Ash Morse, kicked off his music journey at the age of 15 when
he joined his high school China Tour performing in Beijing, Guangzhou,
Shenzhen and Xian (2000). His experiences in preparation for, and
participating in that tour gave him the awareness, confidence, and
long-lasting friendships that formed the backbone of everything that was
to follow. Upon his return to Sydney he joined/co-created Destonia with
his friends - an alternative rock group that would go on to release 3
albums and win several awards in the years they were together.
Since then Ash went on to study at the Classical Composition at the Conservatorium of Music (2004), had his original album featured live on channel 9 twice (2005), the ABC, and live on national radio (2006-2007). He co-created and released music with The Grand Idea (2008-2013), and had his music featured as the anthem for a nation festival (Tourism Australia 2013).
During a pit stop to get a degree, Ash toured the East Coast solo with AT&T (2015), had music featured in an Australian film (Tall Poppy 2022), and had his single, 'Change My Number' featured in videos reaching 1.7 million collective views on TikTok.
Since the official start of his solo career back in 2005 Ash has produced a huge amount of material beginning with his jazz-inspired first album, 'Lost on the Music', continuing to straddle and challenge genres and expectations.
Since the age of 20, Ash has managed, composed for, and performed with a variety of ensembles, including his 7-piece solo band, a 17 piece party band (Jam Party), The Rhino Factory 20 piece Big Band and the Macquarie University Orchestra. He's performed around the world in cities such as London, Vietnam, Tokyo, Kerala, Cancun, Santiago and countless stages across the east coast of Australia. It has been quite a journey of struggle and triumph, taking a few twists and turns over the last decade but after a few years hiatus, he is back and more prolific than ever!
Ash’s 2023 was full of hight notes, reaching 1.3 million streams on Spotify and 1.7million plays on YouTube. His unreleased single, 'Dream Machine' reached the top 40 in the prestigious Vanda and Young international competition, and claimed the grand prize for the IYMC International Composer’s competition. Ash was chosen as a featured artist in the Indie Musician Summit, and his release, 'Sunny Haven Avenue' ranked no.1 in the national AMRAP Metro charts for 2 consecutive weeks.
Ash’s 2024 was full of highlights with the release of his 3rd record in the last 3 years, ‘Family Ties’, receiving national radio airtime and winning hearts around the country. Despite being totally dedicated to the creation of his 2025 release, ‘Nowhere Land’, his biggest, and most ambitious project yet, he also self-managed his north-western mini tour through regional NSW, was an International Songwriting Competition finalist, ListenUp Songwriting Prize Grand Finalist, WAM Music award Nominee for Best Indie Artist, ASA Award finalist, and performed at the Frost Over Barraba Festival, Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival and finished off the year at Woodford Folk Festival (2024).
In 2025 Ash is hard at work completing his largest, and most ambitious project yet - a double vinyl, orchestral concept album unlike anything that has been heard before, as well as gearing up for some international performances in China, Poland, and back home along the east coast of Australia.
