Ashtanga Yoga Beginners Course Wednesday 6.15pm to 7.15pm 15/1/25 - 5/2/25
Event description
Ashtanga Yoga is a traditional style of yoga, originating from Mysore, India. It is a set series of postures taught in succession and is a dynamic practice linking breath with movement. Traditionally taught as a self- practice and named 'Mysore Style' after the city from where it originated, students are taught the sequence by a suitably experienced teacher and postures are added gradually when the student is ready to learn them.
This course is an introduction to the Primary Series and will provide the participant with the foundations of a self practice from which to develop their own practice. Once students have completed the course, they will then be invited to join self practice classes to build on their practice.
Although Ashtanga Yoga has a reputation for being 'the most difficult' form of yoga practice, this is a myth. Postures can be modified and because it is a self practice, students can practice at their own pace.
Some of the benefits of engaging with this practice include :
- Increased flexibility & strength
- Focus the mind
- Connect to and balance the body
- Mind/Body connection
- Improve circulation
- Cultivate healthy habits
- Reduce stress and anxiety
- Improve sleep
Traditionally, the practice of yoga is about much more than the physical benefits. As a traditional system of yoga, this practice also offers the student a gateway into exploring the deeper aspects of the practices and ancient Art of Yoga.
