Lineup

Lauren Pattemore
Lauren Pattemore works at the Asia New Zealand Foundation. She returned from Taiwan in 2025 after spending three months working for Taiwan's public TV broadcaster, TaiwanPlus, with support from the Foundation. The stories she told in Taipei drew on connections between Taiwan, New Zealand and Australia, and her reporting allowed her to learn more about Taiwan's culture and work environment. She is a former journalist, and in 2024, she was runner-up for Best Up and Coming Journalist at the country's national media awards.

Hamish Morrisey
After completing his BA in Chinese and history in 2016, Hamish travelled to Taiwan in 2019, where he experienced Taiwan’s hospitality for the first time. After completing a master’s degree, he applied for and was subsequently admitted to National Chengchi University in 2022, where he was also awarded Taiwan’s MOE scholarship. The scholarship supported his studies through to the completion of his thesis in 2025.

Justin Wong
Justin is a New Zealand-based journalist with over four years' experience in local and Asia-Pacific reporting.
