Asian Cinema Collective Presents: Battle Royale (2000) 4K

Directed by Kinji Fukasaku, Battle Royale is a dystopian thriller that shocked and captivated audiences when it was first released in 2000. Set in near-future Japan, the government has enacted a new ‘Battle Royale’ law to manage rising levels of juvenile delinquency by randomly choosing a class of high school students to participate in a deadly game where they must fight each other to the death. Placed a remote island, students are given a selection of weapons and rations and have three days to eliminate each other until one survivor remains.

This screening will be a 4K restoration of the original film.
