The introduction of the sustainability reporting requirements in the Corporations Act 2001 is a significant development in Australian corporate reporting.
ASIC and the AASB are hosting a series of free, invitation-only, in-person introductory educational sessions around Australia to support entities, particularly those required to commence sustainability reporting for financial years beginning on or after 1 July 2026, to better understand their new sustainability reporting obligations.
Building a strong understanding of the core concepts behind the sustainability reporting requirements is essential to complying with them.
Sessions will be held in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth.
Educational session offering
Join us for a 3-hour and 15-minute in-person foundational educational session delivered by ASIC, the AASB and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). The workshop will involve introductory lectures and guided interactive learning activities delivered by UTS to help you understand and apply the core, foundational concepts that underpin the sustainability reporting requirements. Topics covered include:
Introduction to climate science
Climate-related risks
Climate-related opportunities
The in-person sessions provide an opportunity to engage further with these key concepts, hear from ASIC and the AASB, and learn from peers who are also in the early stages of implementation.
Please note: These workshops are deliberately designed as introductory and foundational sessions to support those entities that need to disclose from 2026—they are not designed for consultants or entities with more mature sustainability reporting practices. Places are limited to one participant per entity.
Target audience
These educational sessions are specifically designed to support those entities that are not yet subject to the sustainability reporting requirements but are expected to commence sustainability reporting for financial years beginning on or after 1 July 2026.

Process of registration
To register your interest in attending, please complete the EOI by answering the questions at the checkout on the following page. Places are limited, so please register your EOI as soon as possible.
Invitations to the event will be sent to the email provided in the EOI within a few weeks of submitting your EOI. Invitations to the event will be issued based on relevance of the event to your entity/role and the order in which EOIs are received.
Once an invitation is received, you will then need to register for the event via the link provided in the invitation email. If you don’t receive an invitation, it means the event has reached capacity.
Please submit your EOI to attend the Sydney event by 4 May 2026. EOIs may close earlier if the event has reached capacity.

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) is Australia's integrated corporate, markets, financial services and consumer credit regulator. ASIC is responsible for administering, and where appropriate, enforcing, the sustainability reporting requirements under the Corporations Act.
AASB
The Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) is an Australian Government entity that is responsible for developing, issuing and maintaining Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards and Australian Accounting Standards. The AASB issued AASB S2 Climate-related Disclosures to support the Australian Government’s decision to mandate climate-related financial disclosures for certain entities via the Corporations Act
