Description

Now more than ever, we need community in the room - people like you - so our political representatives know we expect better maternity care.

An election is coming, and local politicians want your vote. We, the community, want better maternity care in the Illawarra and we want to know how they will make it happen, when and how.

As mothers, midwives, parents and people who have seen the positive impact of an empowered birth and the devastation of a traumatic one, we want answers. This is your chance to hear from them and ask your own questions.

We have local politicians confirmed including Hon. Ryan Park, Hon. Anna Watson, Hon, Paul Scully, Independent Candidate Kylie Flament and Ryan Chapman.

With Fiona Reid, ACM midwife of the year will be moderating the panel.

1 in 3 women experience birth trauma every single day. It has to stop.

BBI has joined other organisations to put together six asks for better maternity care built from what you’ve told us over the years.

On the night, we’ll put those asks to the politicians and invite them to commit to them in front of the community.

You’ll also get to ask your own questions and hear their answers face to face.

It’s been two years since the Government said it would work to end birth trauma, and progress has been too slow. Maternity care matters. Ending birth trauma matters.

You don’t need to know anything about politics, and no question is too small. If you’ve had a baby here, supported someone who has, or care about how our community looks after its families, there’s a seat for you - and make sure to bring a friend.

  • A delicious light supper, tea and coffee will be served

  • Babies and children welcome

  • It's Friday night, we'll make this a chance to connect as a community too!

  • Read our six asks at birthwithouttrauma.com.au
