Aspire and Inspire - Funding LGBTIQ+ communities across Australia
Event description
'Aspire & Inspire Morning Conversation' with Speedy Shatari, General Manager Stand Up and Doron Abramovici, Vice President of Jewish Community Council of Victoria to share their personal stories, current work and aspirations for the Jewish LGBTIQ+ community.
Speedy Shatari (they/them)
Speedy has extensive experience in the not-for-profit sector and is currently working as Stand Up’s new General Manager. Previously, Speedy worked as the Community Officer at the NSW Jewish Board of Deputies and primarily focused on First Nations partnerships, LGBTQIA+ inclusivity, aged care, human rights and environmental concerns. They have recently helped launch a pioneering mentorship program for Jewish LGBTQIA+ individuals and implemented inclusion training sessions for key communal organisation and youth movements. As a Jewish non-binary and LGBTQIA+ person, Speedy’s aim is to continue building and fostering an inclusive and affirming community where everyone feels welcomed.
Doron Abramovici (he/him)
Doron’s involvement with the Jewish community in Victoria commenced when he came out at the age of 26 and was one of the founding members of the Jewish Community Council of Victoria’s (JCCV) LGBTI Reference Group in 2009; fast forward 13 years and he is the first, openly gay Vice President of the JCCV. Doron strongly believes in social and economic justice and his career and pro-bono work to date is a testaement to these values. Doron has worked in the banking and non-for-profit sectors for the last 21 years, most recently starting his own consulting firm – DMA Consulting.
