This workshop series focuses on using a variety of evidence-based assessment strategies that enable participants to track learners’ progress. It enables the participants to plan, construct, and use assessment approaches that are appropriate to their teaching context.
By the end of this workshop participants will be able to
- Apply the key vocabulary, purposes, functions, and principles of high-quality assessment to different forms of assessment.
- Develop assessment and evaluation strategies that are aligned with learning outcomes through valid and reliable assessments that document and support student learning.
- Develop an authentic performance assessment and a high-quality rubric, following evidence-based design principles.
- Evaluate the alignment between high quality assessment tasks, rubrics, and assessment for learning through feedback to peers.
- Apply the principles of effective feedback to give, receive, and implement peer feedback.
Note: This workshop qualifies as an elective for the Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (CUTL) for those participants who are interested in completing the certificate. Contact the facilitator for details on how to earn credit.
