Event description

A gently uplifting one woman show created especially for the Historic James Brickworks Beehive Kiln. 'Astronauts Reminisce' stitches together accounts given by pioneering space travellers. The igloo shaped kiln has a domed ceiling which means it has incredible acoustics. The structure's shape also, to some extent mirrors the intimacy of being with others in space vessel.

Be transported and uplifted by the acoustic music, historically interesting text , silence and beauty of 'Astronauts Reminisce.'

After the show explore this historical precinct improbably nestled in Beverly!

Graduate of the International School of Storytelling (UK) Bachelor of Arts in English, Flinders University
Bachelor of Teaching (Hons), Melbourne University

Helen studied creative writing at Flinders University, Manchester Metropolitan University (UK) and Emerson College (UK). A graduate of the International School of Storytelling (UK), Helen is a seasoned storyteller who performs original and traditional stories for adults and children. She has been telling stories for the Art Gallery of South Australia for many years.

Helen creates and performs immersive theatrical experiences in indoor and outdoor settings. Helen performed in and contributed to the development of Return to the Village. (Winner 2022 Bank SA Adelaide Fringe Award Best Family show.)

A Fringe Artist Fund grant enabled her to write and perform the successful scenario-based children’s storytelling show Party for Two. (Adelaide Fringe 2023)

Helen has been commissioned to write original stories for performances by Art Gallery of South Australia, Avenues of Honour, National Trust of South Australia, and The Australian Centre for Social Innovation.

Helen’s play The Light House was selected for performance by Melbourne University’s Union Theatre Guild. Her story The Milkman won first prize at the South Australian State Folk Festival and Miss. Vivian’s Clock was a finalist at the Spirit of Woodford Folk Festival’s original story prize.
