Autism & Gender Diversity: Autism Webinar

Online Event
Add to calendar

Mon, 10 Nov, 4am - 5am EST

Event description

Studies show that autistic people are more likely to identify with diverse gender identities. For many autistic children, gender doesn’t always fit neatly into the categories of ‘boy’ or ‘girl’ and families are often left wondering how to best support their child.

We’re joined by Shadia Hancock, who will share insights and lived experience on the overlap between autism and gender diversity. They will highlight why these experiences often occur together, and how parents and carers can feel supported and confident as they walk alongside their children.

We’ll explore

  • Why autistic kids are more likely to explore gender

  • How to have safe, age-appropriate, and affirming conversations about gender identity

  • The role of schools, health systems, and community in supporting both autism and gender diversity

  • Practical ways parents can advocate for their child and nurture pride in who they are
