ATX - Assistive Technology Experience (2.0 CPD hours)
Description
You will spend the first part of this session with your hands on the equipment. Smart locks, an automatic door opener, a video intercom, voice controlled lighting, motorised blinds, a radar fall sensor and a full environmental control system are set up and running on the bench at our Leederville office. Open them, break them, ask what happens when the wifi drops.

The second part is the funding. We go through each device you have just used and map it against the NDIS and the aged care AT-HM scheme, side by side.
That side by side matters more than it sounds. A video intercom can be a minor home modification under the NDIS and sits on the exclusions list under AT-HM. Same device, same client goal, two completely different answers depending on which scheme is paying.
We work through the four NDIS pathways in plain terms. Low-cost AT from Consumables, mid-cost AT from Capital, quotable and high-cost AT, and where minor home modifications end and complex ones begin. Same treatment for the AT-HM access levels.

Then we take a real case and write it up together in the room. You will leave with a funding pathway sheet for every device on the bench, report wording in the order the NDIA reads it, and the completed case study in your inbox afterwards.
We will also show you our NDIS Line Item Finder. Pick a product, answer two questions, and it returns the support item code, the budget it comes from, the conditions attached and the page number in the Code Guide where you can check it. It is free and it stays free.
