Auckland Archi-Tours: Whare Tane
Whare Tane
Auckland, New Zealand
Description
Whare Tane – HPC1Located on the lower slopes of Maungawhau (Mt Eden), Whare Tane is an intriguing piece of 1920’s architectural heritage.
Architect John Anderson was clearly influenced by Frank Lloyd Wrights Prairie style houses of the early 20th century and Whare Tane is also notable for the use of indigenous stone and Maori-influenced motifs. The house has a category 1 listing in the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Toanga List/Rārangi Kōrero.
Meet on the footpath outside.
