Event description

Gallery Archivist, Freya Elmer, facilitates a conversation around the lives, works and artistic heritage of May Smith and June Black, two modernist female artists from Aotearoa.

This talk draws from artist archives held in the E H McCormick Research Library Archives and supports the current exhibition Modern Women: Flight of Time. The archives showcase the rich history of practice and community created by female artists during the mid 20th century.

Meet at 10.45 in the Auckland Art Gallery foyer, on the red couches. Tom Locke from the local branch and a representative of Auckland Art Gallery will meet you there.

Part of the Aotearoa Festival of Architecture 2024 and Auckland Archi-tours.
