Auckland Saxophone Ensemble - Debut Concert

The New Zealand Saxophone Society Inc. is thrilled to introduce the newly formed saxophone group, the Auckland Saxophone Ensemble, in their debut concert.

Featuring some of the city's leading musicians, the Auckland Saxophone Ensemble promises to showcase the saxophone's full range of musical styles and timbres.

The performers are:

• Michael Jamieson - Saxophone professional, University of Auckland
• Tomomi Johnston - Saxophone professional and teacher, saxophonist at TrioNique
• Alex Eichelbaum - Saxophone and Clarinet professional, Manukau Concert Band director
• Chad Davenport - Saxophone and music teacher, West City Concert Band director
• Takahide Sato - Saxophonist, winner of the 2023 NZCBA Festival Best Solo Award
• Nicola Chester - Saxophonist at the Manukau Concert Band
• Gustav Voigt - Saxophonist at the Manukau Concert Band

The programme will feature New Zealand composer and saxophonist Peter Liley in the (septet version) premiere of his delicious work, Daydream Cinema. Alongside this will be a selection of movie music from Japan's Studio Ghibli and the exquisite perennial favourite, Dvořak's Serenade for Winds.
