Auckland Sketching Series - Edition 2: Sketching Workshop with Arno Pieters

Back by popular demand for the NZIA Festival of Architecture 2025, we’re excited to present the second edition of the Auckland Sketching Series — a hands-on workshop led by experienced educator, architect and sketch artist Arno Pieters. 

Arno brings a rich background in architectural sketching and visual communication. With years of experience running sketching workshops, Arno specialises in helping both beginners and seasoned designers sharpen their skills in technical linework, shading, and perspective. 

This interactive session will include: 

• Short, focused presentations on foundational techniques 

• A live sketching demonstration by Arno 

• A series of guided sketching exercises where participants can apply what they've learned 

Whether you're a student, architect, or simply someone who loves to draw, this workshop is a great opportunity to reconnect with the joy of hand sketching. 

What to bring: 
We encourage you to bring your favourite drawing tools — whether that's pencils, fineliners, copic markers, or your go-to sketchbook. A small supply of basic materials will also be available for those who need them. 

This session is all about relaxing, learning, and reconnecting with drawing as a way of seeing and thinking.
