Sun, 17 Aug, 2pm - 4pm AEST

Event description

Join us for our August artist talk presented by Christine Dauber, where she will be discussing the life of Leona (Waldie) Metcalfe (1915-1989).
In many ways her life was not remarkable, yet when we look to the times in which Leona (Nona) lived and at what she did achieve, it is time to reconsider these achievements within their context. She was a schoolteacher, an artist and on her death, she became a benefactor of the arts. She was a member of the RQAS and the Society still holds her preliminary drawing for the major work The Feast. Christine examines her life and work to understand better the contribution that Nona as a woman made to the artistic legacy of Brisbane.

This talk will be held at Petrie Terrace Gallery on Sunday, 17th of August from 2pm to 4pm.

Ticket Prices:
- $5 for RQAS Brisbane Members
- $15 for the Public

Although this is a member's gathering, all are welcome to attend! Event starts at 2pm at Petrie Terrace Gallery and afternoon tea is included in the ticket price. Make sure to book your ticket via Humanitix, as spaces are limited!
