Dystopian Destinations: The World of Sci Fi

Room: North Wing Music Room, 2nd Floor | Moderator: Joy Stancato | 1:30 AM- 2:30 PM

After the presentation, attendees are welcome to purchase a book and/or get their book signed by the author in the Research & Information room on the 2nd floor of the library.

Pre-registration is extremely helpful for planning purposes, but is not required. Pre-registered attendees will get priority seating in the event of limited seating. Walk-ins are welcome if capacity allows. 

Description

Space, time travel, AI; the world of science fiction is an expanse like no other genre. Listen to August Clarke, Riley August, and CJ Rivera as they talk about the world-building and research it takes to create the stories of their genre.

Biography

August Clarke

Riley August
is a speculative fiction writer, animal lover, nature walker, and all around nerd. When they aren’t writing stories about lonely voyages through space, you can find them playing video games or a myriad of TTRPGs. They live in New England with their cat and husband. The Last Gifts of the Universe is their debut novel.

CJ Rivera
is an adult dystopian author navigating the realms of high-tech turmoil and stark reality. Before diving into speculative fiction, Rivera enjoyed a successful career as a Creative Producer. She has penned and produced captivating content for media giants such as CNBC and NBC Universal. She lives in Washington, DC with her husband, daughters, and her hydroponic garden.
