Come along to our First Nations Engagement Community of Practice, where First Nations-led thought leaders share knowledge and engagement ideas across the energy and water sectors.
In August 2023, we will hear from Carolyn Davis a proud Noongar woman and Chris Samuelsson, a proud Yuwaalaraay woman.
Carolyn joined the Water Corporation in August 2022 and brings to the role many years of actively participating in the Reconciliation movement in Western Australia, including as a Board Member of Reconciliation WA. Carolyn is passionate about making a difference and using her sphere of influence to help achieve a reconciled Australia built on respectful and meaningful relationships.
Introducing Carolyn Davis...
I am a proud Noongar woman with connection throughout the WAGYL KAIP region of south west of Western Australia, with my grandmothers living across Katanning, Wagin, Mt Barker, Kojonup and Albany.
I hold a Bachelor of Social Science (Indigenous Services) from Edith Cowan University and a Masters of Public Policy from Murdoch University WA. I commenced work in the public sector in 2005 and have worked across several government agencies including the Department of the Attorney General, Commissioner for Children and Young People, Disability Services Commission, Department of Training and Workforce Development, and Department of Justice. I want to share with you my achievements building respectful and meaningful relationships.
Chris is the Customer Inclusion Manager at Ergon Energy Retail and Leader of the First Nations working party for Energy Queensland. In this position Chris has the responsibility of promoting respectful and inclusive engagement across Queensland and all customers.
Introducing Chris Samuelsson...
Most recently I engaged with the communities in Northern Peninsula Area of Queensland (Seisia, New Mapoon, Bamaga, Umagico and Injinoo) and Thursday Island with a focus on cost-of-living challenges and in particular energy literacy and education. I'm keen to share with you what I learnt.
