Aunty Dot Peters AM Flowering Grasslands Eco Planting Session - Wantirna
Event description
The Moondani Toombadool Centre would like to invite volunteers to assist with enrichment planting at the Aunty Dot Peters AM Flowering Grasslands.
Dean Stewart, a Wemba Wemba – Wergaia man, who designed the eco space will be having a yarn about grasslands and the regeneration of the area on Thursday 16 May from 9am-2pm.
The space recreates an evocative true eco-space of Indigenous Flowering Grasslands, reclaiming a piece of local ecosystem back onto the very sites where they once thrived for untold millennia and revealing a living time capsule, as if the world has changed except for this small special space of local natural landscape and biodiversity - a ‘Lost Lands Found’.
Dean will provide volunteers a briefing on the Grasslands and provide instruction during the planting session. Gardening gloves and tools will be provided for all volunteers on the day.
Please bring with you a hat, water bottle and sunscreen.
Please refer to the map for location of the gardens on campus.
