Help us bring free writing and illustrating workshops to Queensland children.
Every child should have the opportunity to discover the joy of creating a story.
Book Links Qld Inc. is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting children's and young people's literature. For many years, we have connected children, families, educators, authors and illustrators through events, resources, competitions, mentoring and other programs.
This AusArts Day, we're raising funds to take free creative workshops into Queensland libraries.
Your donation will help us engage local children's authors and illustrators to run fun, hands-on writing and illustrating workshops for children and young people – particularly in regional and outer-metropolitan communities.
We've already seen the difference these programs can make.
In 2026, Book Links funded author Dave Lowe to present Choose Your Own Adventure sessions for young people at Ipswich and Springfield libraries as part of their summer holiday programs.
In 2025, we funded Yvonne Mes to run a creating mini-books workshop at Arana Hills Library during the September school holidays.
Now we want to do more.
Our goal is to expand the program to more Queensland council libraries, giving more children the chance to meet a professional author or illustrator, unleash their imagination and discover that they can create stories too.
And there is another important benefit: your donation helps support Queensland's creative professionals by paying authors and illustrators for their expertise and time.
